Wendy Carlos

Born November 14th, 1939

Wendy Carlos was one of the first musical artists to fully embrace electronics with her work.

Carlos is known for her groundbreaking, at times eerie, synthesizer works. She paved the way for modern musical production. Carlos worked with Stanley Kubrick on the scores for A Clockwork Orange and The Shining. She released multiple albums of classical pieces performed on early synthesizers. Wendy Carlos was also very open about her gender transition in 1968 and is an icon for raising awareness on gender transition.
